I like a product called Citristrip.
Strippers are good to remove any finish on the wood and get down to the stain, then sand. If there is not top finish, you can sand it.
Stripping furniture unfortunately does not always take away the stain. I would start with a stripper but if it doesn't take off everything, you are going to want to sand it down quite a bit. I have come across stained furniture where the stripper absolutely did nothing. I had to sand quite a bit of layer off before I could see the natural wood. Stain can get pretty deep into the wood. Just be careful that you don't sand too far that the details of the furniture get worn off. Yes, I started to get to that point where I needed to stop. lol. Good luck...you will want to get an orbital sander for large areas, and for Sanding tough crevices:
You will need some specialty sanding materials. Sanding tools that can get into really tiny crevices can be purchased at a woodworking store like woodcraft and rockler. Woodcraft is where I got mine. You can buy sanding blocks with wedges and points to get into those hard to reach areas. There are even sanding cords you can buy to go around crevices of spindles etc. These are a few that I have that work great!!!!:

I have loved citristrip stripper to remove stain from furniture. You can learn more about how to use it here. https://www.arayofsunlight.com/2018/10/remove-paint-from-wood-furniture.html
Once the stripper has done most of the work, you can sand down the rest of the stain. Just be careful to not sand through the possible thin wood veneer.
