How do I fill settling cracks in ceiling?

My walls and ceiling have settling cracks.

    We got them when we built an extension. We just used filler and painted over it and they didn't come back :)

    Assuming they’re not growing, then drywall compound or painters caulk.

    How to Repair a Ceiling Crack

    1. Score the crack with a utility knife to remove any loose plaster or other material that may be inside the crack.
    2. Use mesh tape to cover the crack. ...
    3. If your ceiling is drywall, you may have to add some screws to hold the two halves in place and make the crack even on both sides.
    4. Apply joint compound over the taped crack.
