They’ll need to be set in a bed of sand or pea gravel that has edging to keep the bed from moving.

or you might Pin them with small tent pegs.

First you need to dig out the path to make a flat bed for the sand.

Like Kelli and Cheryl suggest. Dig out the path about one inch deeper than the thickness of the paver. Pack the soil down. Lay down some landscape fabric to prevent weed growth (optional). Then pour one inch of sand and start laying the pavers. They should be level with the surrounding ground. You can use a rubber mallet, heel of a shoe, or a piece of wood to gently pound them down. Once laid down sprinkle sand on the surface and sweep it in between the pavers.

Additionally, you can freshen the sand once a year by adding a bit to the top of the pavers and sweeping in.

4 ways to do it.......you can dig out area and set pavers together down in area using ground/ grass as edging ; you can lay out bricks in pattern on ground you like and dig out hole for each seperate brick, more like stepping stones( instead of laying them up against each other then using sand filler). If you do this they need to lay/set lower than grass so you can mow over them;you can lay them on top of grass & use special edging made for pavers like this from heavy grade plastic or metal(depending on your climate) https://express.google.com/u/0/product/17172334697656703219_10085955302207477390_118724597?utm_source=google_shopping&utm_medium=tu_prop&utm_content=eid-lsjeuxoeqt>im=CKeP4qnm6Z_VUhDSn8SL67fohGcYsLuQHCIDVVNEKJCa0-YFMPWvzjg&utm_campaign=118724597&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwq-L9L3r4QIVEtNkCh3YqAwHEAkYAiABEgLXOvD_BwE OR use larger edging stones; you can also get Permasand for between the pavers when you wet it it hardens like cement to keep paver sand from always washing away and weeds from growing thru.Since you are just making small area & you dig it out for solid brick path, you don't really need to even put sand base under and level everything all pro like but the ground/dirt does need leveled/raked enuf to get bricks to point that they are not tripping hazard. If you dig the ground out to set them in don't make it too low or water will sit in the area covering bricks whenever it rains.
