How do I safely screen or cover the sump pump?

I can’t afford to move the window nor the sump pump, so I’m looking at covering it up, with something water resistant and removable . What?
Maybe build a box around it using plastic lattice. It will be water resistant and lightweight to move.
Maybe a wire shelf with baskets that would fit in and around it. Like the bathroom ones that have adjustable shelves.

I like the idea of using plastic lattice because it's light weight and waterproof. You might even use some more and create a panel to cover your window which would still let in light but could bring it all together like both of them belong in that spaces. If you're really ambitions, you could clip on some pots with greenery to make it even nicer. Wishing you the best.
What do you think about building a lift-able wood box with a treated lumber “toe kick”? Maybe 1/2” plywood, some kind of two tone trendy finishes.
I could make it a bookshelf with essentially a false back, up to the window sill.
I’d make a matching low bench to go under the window, as that’s the only (fire egress) window in the basement.
The idea would be you could step on the bench if you wanted to get out through the basement window.

No need to reinvent the wheel on this one. You can purchase a "Sump Basin Cover" by Everbilt. We would have purchased ours from either Lowes or Home Depot. Ours is 18". Our sump pump is below a window, electrical panel and next to the washing machine. Really helps with keeping things out of it. There is a gap down the middle that allows for the pipe. Good luck.
