Super easy if they are the simple slip seat kind that just unscrew from underneath. It's as simple as take off , can if thick, remove old fabric, wrap on new fabric and staple underneath. Screw seat back on. If it's the box seat kind, its upholstered in place. Look to you tube for tutorials on how to uphoster a box seat dining chair.

Re-upholstering is one of my favorite things to do to update furniture. You will have to remove the fabric. Please check out my blog post https://karupp-did.net/fabric-removal/. This will give you an idea how to remove the fabric yourself. I explain all of that in the post how to label it and keep the pieces organized if it were a bigger project(like the bench I did in that post). Also what tools you will need to get all the tacks out is all in there. When you remove the old fabric then you can get to the refinishing of the wood on the chairs if that is what you are planning to do. Then check out https://karupp-did.net/bench-part-3/ I did a 3 post series on how to re-upholster. For your application, just check out those 2 posts linked. This post will show you techniques how to staple it all back up. I am assuming the cushions are good and you will only be replacing the fabric. Is there any fabric piping involved on the edges of the cushions? If you are not experienced with sewing, you can just fore-go the piping and just re-upholster it without it. Are the seats curved at all? If so, check out my post.... https://karupp-did.net/re-upholster-with-white/

This post goes into detail how to re-upholster around a curve! Good luck!! I hope this helps!

Re doing the seat is super easy. I have a video tutorial to show you exactly how to do it.

Yes, it is easy as stated by others. The old material can be used as a pattern for the new cover. An electric or pneumatic stapler will work best.

Agree with above answers. I did 8 dining rm chairs for my daughter and her large family. Some suggestions: if the foam is crumbling, replace it. Then cover the foam with upholstery batting (NOT quilt batting). The batting acts as a buffer between the foam and fabric. Woven fabric, heavier weight, has a sawing action against the foam and causes it to disintegrate. If there are children or "spillers" in the house, put plastic between the batting and the new fabric. I used black garbage bags, doubled. This allows you to do a wet cleaning of the fabric to remove stains without soaking everything else and getting mold. I prefer to use Folex and The Little Green Machine.

NOTE: I did this 20 yrs ago and the fabric still looks great.
