How to fix a concrete floor?

Question

I have a porch and the previous owner just laid down a carpet, which got wet and dried time after time, and later laid another carpet on top of that one, and it is as filthy as the one under it. I'm removing them, under them there is concrete but it is kind of uneven and rough. I can't afford tiles and I don't want carpet, any advice?

You're going to need concrete patch and some tools to make the surface level. But DON'T make the floor itself level or there will be no direction for rain to run off. Maintain the grade and just smooth the surface. If the area isn't large (less than 8 X 8) you can probably manage it in a day by yourself since your reach with a tool probably maxes at 4 feet. If the space is bigger, you may want to square off areas to patch one at a time and make it easier on yourself.

Fair suggestions from Jeremy and Jan. Be aware...new concrete will not adhere to old concrete. You can resurface and level the concrete with a latex modified cement.
