I have this area in my back yard that needs something, but what?

  • Small koi pond and a water fountain. Add planters full of flowers around.

I agree a fountain would be lovely with some more flowers for color! If you don't have electrical access or don't want to bother with it, maybe you could find or make a great solar fountain!

Agree on fountain but if not, perhaps a bird bath, gazing globe on pedestal, tall spinner, or some time of yard art.

You can add color with the piece of some flowers.

    New mulch, perhaps in red.

Brick or stone edging along the sidewalk.

  • Maybe a bistro set (high table & stools), put some mulch down and maybe a couple of big planters

    Tina,

You can make a small area very pretty with almost anything with little effort and money. And without much upkeep to worry with.

Were it me, I would put out a few garden ornaments...maybe something you might find at a flea market...a rusted old wheel or just pile up a few nice size rocks. Then set out a nice big pot with some greenery that comes back every year or some colorful flowers...then finish off with some pine straw.

A few pots are easy to keep watered. I use those resin pots because they are not so heavy.

Here are some examples...you can tell we are just now bringing out the plants to get some spring weather and are about to refresh our pine islands. Most of these items are "rescue" items. That small table I cleaned up and spray painted Grape!!! I am going to get to work on my rock garden soon...the wet, chilly weather has us a bit behind!

Love this idea. A pond or a fountain takes a lot maintenance.

I was about to suggest your idea as well.

Or maybe some pavers and put a small bistro table, but that would depend on where this is located in the yard.

Take all debris out and put some river rocksin that area and then add a few plants in containers and a bird bath in the middle.

You pull something like a high trellis along the wooden structure. Plant a quick growing vine. This would soften the look of the wood and add some interest
