Maria,
The big problem with apartments is usually storage. Since you are limited in what you can build in, think old dresser or chests.
A double dresser can make a great TV stand. Put all the components on top and use the drawers for storage...it can even be a mini-pantry!
Wire ties can be used to attach those $2 milk crates from WalMart into a row of cubbies for shoes below the hanging rack in a closet. Pull out bins under the beds are great for out of season wear. If you can find old dresser drawers, add a brace under the bottom and put wheels on them.
Keep in mind also that you can position a storage cabinet behind a chair to hold things you do not use every day. Old TV cabinets are great for this.
Hi Maria. Hang your pictures with Command Hooks, not nails. You can even soak fabric in a starch solution and hang on a wall, like wallpaper. It peels right off with no damage to walls.
What info concerning apartments are you interested in?
Just realized that this is an old topic, so sorry if I revived it.
The best apartments nowadays are new modern high tech style apartments that are using your free space at 100% and efficiently. For example, you can have a sofa that transforms into a big table or a double bed or you can have a working table that moves inside the wall, etc. I used to live in an old apartment and there I did not use the space efficiently of the apartment. When I moved to private park apartments peter cooper village I started to use every space I have efficiently so I can fit in my apartment so much furniture as possible and still have a lot of space in my apartment.
