First make sure that the hinges are tight and then just spray a little lubricant on the hinges. if it is wood rubbing against wood you will have to gently remove some of the wood so that it is no longer rubbing

Hi Laura, the squeaking is likely coming from the hinges. Just add a drop or two of WD-40 (or any clear oil such as olive, vegetable oil) to the hinges and open and close the door a few times. That will probably take care of the squeaks. Wipe the hinges with a soft cloth to get rid of any excess product you've used so it doesn't drip onto the floor or carpet. Easy Peasey!

I like use a dry lubricant since it wouldn't collect dust and dirt.

They are sold at hardware stores and Big box stores like Home Depot

White grease, you can find it at an automotive store.

    Laura,

The type of grease Kathy is talking about is lithium grease. You can find it at most hardware stores. You can even use vaseline. A grease will last longer than a spray, but the best way to apply it is to pop the hinge pin out.
