Deck on side entrance. How to make it more interesting and match house
How can I create a wow factor to my house?
Front door is on side. I want to add pizzazz or colour or something to my house to make it more interesting but don't know how to achieve this. The unusual thing is that my front door is on the side of the house and the back door, the other side. The patio door is just for me to sit in front of my house, and is not an entrance to the house. Thank you.
Patio door not used as entrance. Plan is to put railing around it
What colour siding would look good

Add decor to the wood. Paint or stain it as well. I think the siding is fine if you jazz it up with a bit of ornamental iron hung on the the plain tan wall, maybe a large old wooden window. If you are set on changing the siding color, go with a pop of color or maybe paint what you have.
Add some plants for color, maybe even a holly bush for the winter.
The biggest issue is that everything is a shade of brown with no color anywhere so if you start adding color, I think you will be much happier with the appearance.
Paint the trim work a color that contrasts with the stone and doesn't blend in. Paint the light fixture also. Add some plants that will lend some color and maybe a planter or two. If you painted the wood structure on the far left by the fence it would stand out more.
Adding a firepit and seating would add interest.
There are inexpensive and cute lighting ideas that you could look into. Here is an example.

If you are keeping the garage door white, paint the fence white or do a whitewash.
White would even look better than black. It is already dark you want to bring some color or lighten the area.
A nice bright throw rug would help you could use that as a color for planters. A burnt orange would add some much needed color.
You could also make a small enclosure to keep your trash cans in.
