How to remove wallpaper?

Use a scoring tool that you can use in circular motions. This will score the wallpaper and cut it into tiny little holes all over. Then you get a wallpaper dissolvant liquid that gets smeared on top of all the holes so that it soaks in. All of this is at Home Depot. Run the hot shower for a bit in a bathroom....would work well to loosen everything up. The steam will help. Then peel off the paper. If it does start peeling off some of the drywall, it's ok you will just have to spackle those areas again to make it smooth. You can also rent a steamer but that can get super messy. If it was my house, I would do the above method especially since you can use the steam in the shower. Removing wallpaper is not one of my favorite things. Good Luck! lol.

K Rupp method is exactly how I did mine (also two layers!) ...but the step of running hot shower is genius!

After scoring with the tool, spray the walls with a solution of cheapest liquid fabric softener you find and water. If it is small, a spray bottle will work, larger then a large handheld garden sprayer. We used the latter, a new one from a home improvement store. Can't remember ratio because we did it like 15 years ago and it worked like a dream! Look up on internet, somebody out there has the ratio. Allow the solution to penetrate the paper. I think we waited maybe 30 minutes? Use a wide metal scraper/putty knife,and it should start lifting the paper layers up, and it didn't damage the Sheetrock underneath. It had damp spots, but you just let the wall dry thoroughly before priming. We did our first home's entire living room when we removed its 1970s wallpaper left behind by first owner.

Rent or buy a wallpaper steamer.

I had a terrible time getting my paper off. Until I got a steamer.
