First never use Tarnex, it will ruin the finish and I don't like toothpaste. Never had the boiling tin foil tech work for me. White paste, toothpaste was ok, but the Weimans silver polish wipes are awesome and safe. Amazon sells.

Hi Peter, is this for silverware or jewelry? For jewelry, I just like to use a cleaning cloth made for silver. You can find these at most jewelry stores or on Amazon. It's gentle and works great!

I sell a lot of silver on Ebay. Jewelry, silverware, serving sets. Silver polish like Wrights and dips like TarnX tend to remove some of the metal. The foil method doesn't work that great and still leaves a grey film that still needs to be removed. I use white toothpaste (not gel) and a damp toothbrush. For large items I use a damp cloth. Also works on copper, brass, gold, porcelain, ceramics, sneakers, plastics, etc. For my sales I needed one product for cleaning everything.

Spic and Span (powder only available on amazon) Line your sink with aluminum foil, sprinkle in spic and span add hot water, place your jewelry or item on the aluminum foil for a couple minutes and then turn your item for another couple minutes repeat until all tarnish is gone. This is also good for gold and diamonds. They come out sparkling clean. I have been doing this for years. I used to clean the house of a very wealthy lady when I was younger and she had a lot of large pieces of silver the maid and I used to clean it all this way, this is where I learned it from. You must use the powdered spic and span though or it won't work. I've been doing this for years now on my own jewelry.
