5 Minute Vintage Book Page Banner
Create a vintage and farmhouse vibe with this easy book page garland. You probably have everything in hand to make this garland! It would be a perfect decoration for a book themed party including a baby shower!
Gather up the supplies and get started!
*1 Book
*String or Rope
*Hole Puncher
*Scissors
Make sure you pick a book you are willing to cut up. Depending on the look and theme you are going for, you will want to consider the appropriate book. For a baby shower, you could use old Golden Books or other classic favorites. Tip: Shop the thrift stores for used books!
First, measure the rope to the length you desire. If possible, measure the space you plan to hang the garland and add about 1/3 of that size to your measurement. I hung our garland on our mantle and it measured 60 inches, so I cut a rope to 90 inches. You will end up with extra rope but that's okay! It really depends how much you want your garland to drape.
Next rip out pages of the book. You will need 10-15 pages depending on the length of your rope.
Taking a few pages at a time, fold them in half longways.
Now, with the pages folded in half, cut a diagonal along the side where the pages open up.
Then, when you open the pages, you will have a triangle.
Next, punch a hole on either side of the top of the triangle.
String the pages through the rope. You could knot the rope at each hole. But I find it easier to leave un-knotted so that you can adjust the pages along the rope once you hang it.
Add as many pages as you want along the rope.
Then it is time to hang the banner!

Use clear packing tape on the backside or hole reinforcements and get more mileage out of your pennants. Punch through the tape.
