  • Here's what I use, Charles: Take a spray bottle and cover the bottom with salt and fill it up with vinegar. Add a few drops of dish soap and shake. Spray on the weeds.

    Weed killer to be used on sidewalks and driveways can be made from vinegar and a bit of salt. On the lawn, you cannot use this mix and so maybe putting down a bit of weed and feed fertilizer will kill off the weeds and make your lawn thicker and greener.

    This safe formula will kill any green plant: 1 gallon white vinegar, 2 cups Epsom salts, 1/3 cup Dawn dish soap (blue kind) and spray it early in the morning after dew has evaporated. By evening they will be dead. I might add, we always cut what we will spray, to help it reach the roots. So cut it at the mower's lowest setting or a weed cutter and then spray for best results.
