How to install suspended ceiling tracks and tiles?

How to install suspended ceiling tracks and tiles that are acoustical and insulated for a small church group? What are the best tiles - 2x2 or 2x4? Also, need LED lights to fit into the same space as the tiles.

This is a job for pro’s, as getting the track level & soundly secured to the structure is a liability waiting to happen in a commercial “assembly” space. The lights are very heavy.

There’s duct/grille work, smoke CO2 detectors, maybe sprinkler heads, and more

This should be permitted, and that process will mitigate the liability.

You can help your church by being a Project Manager. Write the bid documents, produce the permit documents. Shop for the lights, the ceiling tiles, the grid and get quotes.

LED troffers are worth shopping around for & definitely investigate both Federal Energy Star rebates and State & local Electrical Utility Rebates. There’s incentives for them because they’re so pricey.

2x2’s look better & less dated. They’re more labor, obviously.

Regarding ceiling LED lights, my suggestion is to go with the new style that are shallow and lightweight (as opposed to the older heavier pot or can style). As they do not give off any heat, they also do not require the extensive insulation that ceiling light formerly needed.
