I just had the idea to use burlap. Any thoughts? Think it’ll work? Where can I get burlap in the cheapest way possible?

Hi, burlap is a great alternative to coconut fibre. We use it all the time in our hanging planters. Most garden shops sell them in big quantities here in South Africa. I'm assuming it would be the same where you stay.

Hello there, Are you looking to use it to line baskets? I have recently used circles of the inside of Compost/Soil bags (Black side out) to line my baskets, because that is eco friendly and does the job well because it retains the moisture, but also lets out access as it has inbuilt perforations . Best wishes. We must try to save the Planet in any way we can, and in the meantime save ourselves money too.........!

The problem is that the bags are unsightly in wire baskets. Coconut fiber has a natural look. I would buy the cheaper version, without the plastic within it, and like it with plastic, punching holes in it. I have some large “baskets”, open ended receptacles, that need to be lined.
