These adorable, DIY painted bathroom signs were created by Cheri from Said Your Way Studio! Read this tutorial to see her step-by-step instructions so you can try this project for yourself!

The Supplies:

Step 1:

Before you begin, it’s a good idea to get something to elevate your boards off your surface to prevent your signs from drying to your work surface. We use old bed risers.

Paint your larger flat surfaces with the painting sponge and use your small foam brush to touch up your edges (if necessary). Paint one board with Happy Hour and one with Peacoat. Let your board full dry.

Step 2:

Once your boards have dried. Flip your one-time stencils over and give them a good swipe (burnish). Then place the stencils pretty side up on the boards and use your tape to make a hinge at the top.

Step 3:

Now separate the backing paper from your stencil and apply using your squeegee. With a swipe from top to bottom secure the stencil to the board.

Step 4:

Next peel away the frosted application tape on the top of your one-time stencil. Start in one of the upper corners and slowly peel away in a 45 degree angle.

Make sure the stencil is secure around all the cut openings with your fingers.

Step 5:

Now you are ready to paint! Using the flat end of a wedge make up sponge, load and unload (dab off excess paint in tray) then light dab the paint on your stencil making sure not to push too hard. Build coats slowly, making sure not to apply too much paint with each coat. I would suggest at least two coats of paint. Maybe more depending on how solid you would like your letters to be.

Step 6:

Once you are done painting each board and the paint has dried, slowly remove the stencil.

Use a toothpick or x-acto knife to pick out the center of your design.

Step 7:

You can now give added protection to your sign with a light coat of Country Chic Paint's Natural Wax with your t-shirt rag or any lint free rag.
