I just pull out by hand. I k ow, it's a big pain
That's not a fun job! I've done it... I put on long sleeves and gloves to protect my arms from the poking of the junipers. Then little by little pull up the branches of the shrub as you go to pull out the grass. A weeder tool like this helps get the roots out. Be sure to do it after the ground has been softened with rain/water too. Then I'd suggest using this pre-emerge to keep more seeds from germinating.
