How can I get rid of this vine that's taking over my periwinkle?

The vine with the larger two leaves is the one I want to kill. I have been pulling out the vine which spreads under ground only to have it come back. Help!Carol

I have that too. Others paint Round up on the unwanted leaves with good luck.

    Hi Carol,

I have that too! I just pull it out every spring and fall, but your question got me thinking. Kelli mentioned painting it with Round Up. I'm wondering if painting it with plain white vinegar would work? I don't know for sure, but it's worth a try before using a chemical. Vinegar takes a few days to work and it should be done when there is no rain in the forecast. I'm going to try it. Wishing YOU the best.

Thanks Lynn, the idea was just a thought. I personally will never use Round Up for many reasons but others might. There are safer products coming on the market that don't contain glyphosate, and work just as good. Thanks for responding.

You can use cheap, throw-away foam paint brushes for this chore. Dip them in Round-Up and paint the leaves of the unwanted vine or weed. Be sure to wear rubber gloves, and perhaps eye protection.
