I recently cleaned a rental property oven that had baked on grease. I used

Spray Nine-available at Home Depot or Walmart.com. Spray the area liberally with the Spray Nine. Moisten a triple layer of paper towels with boiling water and place over the Spray Nine. The heat will help the Spray Nine penetrate the dried on grease. Leave overnight. Redampen the paper towels in the morning--just moisten, don't soak. Use the paper towels to wipe up everything you can. Then use more spray nine and a non-scratch scrubbing pad to remove what is left. Then use a cloth with soapy water to remove all residue. Rinse and dry. This method got the greasy oven sparkling clean.

Have you tried the spray bottle version of oven cleaner? This way you can either pour the cleaner in a small puddle onto the stove top (heat off, obviously). Wearing rubber gloves and a sponge or green scrubbie, spread the cleaner over the greasy areas. Let stand undisturbed for 10 minutes. With a rinsed out sponge check on the process. If the grease has been lifted, remove the cleaner with the sponge and rinse completely. Dry with a cloth or paper towel.

I frequently have to clean my disabled clients greasy ovens, I use Dollar Store Awesome Oven and Grill cleaner now - in the big black bottle. I wear kitchen gloves after letting it sit for an hour or more. I like this stuff cause it doesn't take my breath away like the old foam spray ones. If you want to let it sit overnight, I would put a big plastic bag on top to keep it moist.

PS I like the round plastic scrubbies for the enamel, and brillo pads for the trays and metal grids. If the front of the oven has those exhaust grates, I spray it and then use a kitchen dish brush to get into the grill.
