    You can get a nice wooden one at a thrift store and put it on a base the height you need it. Don't use legs, it will tilt. Need a weighted base.

    My favorite desk in 30 years of teaching was one I put together by trading my four-drawer file cabinets for two three-drawer cabinets. I had a six foot piece of heavy plywood next to the trash dumpster. The plywood became the top and the cabinets the “sides”. I used Contact paper on the file cabinets and a $1 plastic tablecloth covered the top. If I were doing this today, it would all about sanding, staining, and painting, but I might use cabinets and plywood the same way. Best wishes with your own plans.
