You could paint them or do a cover application such as concrete or expoxy over something decorative like pennies, glass pieces, or whatever you like. You could also do tile over top, but i don't like the grout lines of tile for a flat surface personally. It looks like though. They can be painted, but it's important to prep with a little sanding and a good coat of primer. I use Kilz.
