It's time for another Garbage to Gorgeous® and today we are taking a pallet and turning into coastal decor! It's an easy and inexpensive DIY project! This is a summary of my original post, you can find more pics and details here: Pallet to Coastal Decor

We had a pallet that we rescued from the trash. Instead of taking it apart the hard way, we just cut slats around the nails.

We took the cut pieces and laid them together. Using small trim pieces, we nailed and glued them to the back. The trim piece also works great to hang the pieces.

Once put together, I gave them a light sand and then using a mix of white and gray acrylic paint, I have it a wash. I used both colors and some water and painted it over the boards.

Then I wiped off any excess. This technique allows the grain and character of the wood to show through, but gives it a bleached out beachy feel.

I then glued on starfish and sand dollars.

This is a summary of my original post, you can find more pics, video tutorial and details here: Pallet to Coastal Decor and keep your eyes peeled to pick up a discarded pallet on the side of the road! Then make beautiful things!

It made a perfect addition to our bathroom decor.
