This is a just for the roof over your deck, right? You can use polycarbonate roof panels. They come clear or opaque and they are sold at any home improvement store.
“Deck roof” as in a flat roof? Or you have a walk-able deck on your RV roof?

Metal does last longer like Kerram said but poly panels let light thru. But they also yellow with time and become brittle. If you live in an area that gets snow they probably won't work. We had a snow storm here and hubby had to take a metal rake (in the middle of the storm) and drag the snow off ours since they were starting to buckle under the weight. If sound is a concern metal can be a little loud in a heavy rain storm. Depends on where you live and what you want.
