Hello Claudia. Well water will not ruin your shower head. You may find that your water will leave deposits-rust or lime scale--that will require you to frequently clean your shower head. If you keep it clean it will last for a very long time. You may need to add a water softener depending on the minerals/hardness of your water.

I agree with GK. I'd add that a $50 whole house filter is an inexpensive way to help protect your appliances

GK is correct. IF you do have mineral deposits gathering on your shower head, an easy fix is to pour a cup or two of vinegar into a baggies and then place the bag of vinegar over the shower head (still in place, no need to remove) and use a rubber band to hold it so the shower head is submerged in the vinegar. Leave for an hour or two or even overnight and the vinegar will dissolve the deposits.

It depends on the mineral content in your water. We have heavy minerals in our water and once or twice a year I rubber band a zip loc bag filled with white vinegar and hang it over the shower head all day (if we are gone) or all night. Sometimes I leave it 24 hrs if we can wait for showering. It cleans out all the minerals!

Gk and Laura are right. We had a well with a water softener on it. As long as you keep it working with the proper chemicals or salt, you'll be fine.
