Hi ! I have a small kitchen , and cabinet space is very limited . I put up a wall pantry . I used an area that is about 30 inches wide and put up 5 shelves using plumbing pipe and pallet wood. Now I keep all my dry goods in glass jars on the shelves , freeing up the cabinet space for other things. Another idea you might be able to do is,, if you have an interior wall , but our the spaces between the studs and frame it out and put inset shelves . Good luck & post your renovation .

I would recommend taking advantage of the advisers at the big box stores for ideas. Since they sell cabinets, they will help you design your space to try and get your business.

Dear Hi-Tech, please supply a photo of the existing kitchen. Without it it is difficult to imagine what the issues are and how to fix them.

As Kathy said - the big box stores would be a great place to start. I just remodeled a kitchen (majorly) - removed 2 walls in the kitchen to open it to the dining and living room. It really made the cabinet area smaller. I took careful and exact measurements of the new walls, window placement, etc. to Lowes. They designed the kitchen around that, ran a price comparison on different cabinets to make the job easier. The cabinets I chose had three construction grades. I chose a cabinet that was in the middle. It was good but not the best of the model I wanted, but I was not quite ready. Then in June or July of last year, Lowes had a sale on all kitchen cabinets that was 15-20% off (can't remember which). I went then to buy them and with the sale I was able to get the top of the line in the model I chose, instead of a cheaper one. With the sale, it was actually cheaper than the original estimate of the cheaper one. I am not saying this to brag. My point is, get all your measurements, take some pics might be good too, and go to Lowes now. Get your ideas of what you want (don't forget if you can work with standard sizes, their in stock cabinets are there too and are also on sale when they have one), have them print out your floor plan and price the cabinets to do it. It's FREE. Hopefully, if that sale is a yearly thing, before long they will be on sale again and you will already know what you want/need and buy them then. Oh and if you do miss the sale or choose the stock cabinets but can only buy one or two at a time due to money or bringing them home without delivery charges, get a Lowes credit card. It saves you 5% al the time on everything you buy.

No, I do not work for Lowes, nor do I get a kickback. It is just what I have learned. I would say Home Depot is the same. I know they do kitchen layouts and cost projections for free. I do not know about a sale, but those two companies usually do the same stuff.
