Hi Sylvia, quite a few of our home talkers have shared how they created space in their sewing room. You can find all their ideas here - https://www.hometalk.com/search/posts?filter=sewing%20room
You can get a table for your sewing machine and a small toolbox with drawers.
It depends on how much space you have. If you have enough room for a small lingerie chest, it would be perfect to hold all your accessories. As for material, I have mine in the closet folded but try very hard not to stock pile it. The best thing I can say is go vertical and utilize walls.
A corkboard on the wall behind your machine/and or/ cutting table will hold your sewing tools ready to use. You can pin your sample blocks to this for reference and anything else you would like. For large rulers, put up command hooks of your choice (mine are the metal ones) on the back of your door. (I have a closet in my room for my sewing fabric tubs) Place a circle reinforcement label over the ruler hanging hole to find it easier in the dark space. My really long ruler gets a bit of tape at the bottom so it doesn't swing against the door.
