Can i put cement over old ceramic tile countertops?

We inherited my husband's grandmother's house. It has yellow and green ceramic tile countertops. They're pretty shallow. I was wondering instead of tearing it out can I build a form over and around the existing tile and put cement countertops over it?

  Personally I think they look pretty rough and amateur, they’re not even food safe to start with. That stove in the article isn’t ever coming out it looks like since she chalked it in, bad idea in my opinion. Seems like a lot of work and money for something that may not even last and since the woman doing it has absolutely no qualifications other than this one attempt where she got all her facts off the internet I’d be pretty sceptical as to its durability.

Yes you can as long as the existing counters are in good shape
