May I just add some info you may think about first? Having experience with both the matte finish ceramic and the high gloss, you may regret making the switch. With the shiny surface, every little piece of whatever will show up, and when I replaced my tiles in the kitchen reno last fall, I chose a charcoal matte tile, and LOVE it. So forgiving and not spending my days finding something else on the floor to clean up. Just in the living room entry, they are shiny black, and they always look dirty. Dust shows up like within 24 hrs. and drives me bonkers. So, just thought you could maybe pick up some sample tiles at a hardware store of each finish, put them down and try them out for a couple of days. Then decide.

They are also less slippery when wet is another thing to think about. Hope this helps! ;-)

Cleaning them well is the best solution. Some tiles have a matte finish and some have a shiny finish. Best solution for a heavy cleaning is one cup of lemon scented ammonia and one gallon hot water. Cuts into heavy dirt and grime.
