Is it an existing shower that just needs the walls tiled? If you're doing the shower floor, that's more difficult. The floor needs to be evenly sloped to the drain all of the way around. It would help to have the pan done by a professional. If you still want to do the tile, home depot and lowes give classes on tile.
Schyleen, if you click on "explore projects" then "tile" then "bathrooms" you will find an abundance of ideas. I have chosen one for you, but there are many more and you can glean something from many or all of them if you look at them. I hope this helps. https://www.hometalk.com/diy/tile/bathroom/beautiful-bathroom-tile-ideas-that-will-make-you-want-to-renovate-41354971
Beautiful Bathroom Tile Ideas That Will Make You Want To Renovate
Hi Schyleen. The floor needs to be done first. While not absolutely necessary, I prefer to coat everything with Red Guard first. Floor tile should be non-slippery tile that is 2x2 or smaller to give traction. Or specially designed large format tile that has a sanded surface. Use tile spacers. You will thank yourself later. Walls are the same process. Spacers will be your friend.
The thinset needs to be consistency of peanut butter. Using a good base of thinset, drag the towel and across to smooth, then use the edge teeth to get even lines. These teeth grooves are extremely important to help level tile and help it to adhere. You have a bit of open time to level and position tile. For walls, start at the bottom and work your way up. A level chalk line for the first row is essential. Happy tiling!
