Muratic acid, in it's purest form, will damage/change any surface it touches. It is highly caustic and the fumes from muratic acid are very toxic. If diluted in the right concentration it is found in cleaning products. I would not chose to use it in my toilet or anywhere inside the house.
If you have a large lime encrusted toliet bowl, I've used CLR pour in the toilet daily before the client went too bed, and after a week it all dissolved and flushed down the toilet. I get it at the Dollar Tree... green bottle.
