Hi . Due your due diligence!!!

    I am saying this from experience ... I thought I had , but I was wrong ☹

I checked on line for the companies reviews , which were very good , checked with BBB, Angies list , home advisor all with highest marks . Our experience was a nightmare ... so get personal references, if possible . Good luck !

Hi Janet, if you are looking to install a stand-alone shower, first thing: what amount of space do you have? You need at least 24 inches in front of the shower door. That will determine the size of your shower. Next, you need to determine $$. There is a wide range. Then the height of the lip, features such as does it have a rain feature, a hand held sprayer, etc. Finally, contact your plumber and show him the unit. He will determine whether the hole placement is correct or adjustments need to be made in your plumbing. Once the plumbing is taken care of, buy the unit. Then, either your or the plumber can install. Happy renovating!

Are you looking for ideas on walk in showers or asking for who to hire?

  • A seat! Either built in or large enough to place a shower chair or stool. As we age, it gets a bit more difficult for ladies to shave their legs in a stall shower. Plus if someone has an injury or recovering from an illness it is safer.

I would highly recommend having 2 water sprayers in any shower: One is a fixed head, the other is an adjustable hand-held wand on a flexible hose. Purchase one with a quality brand metal hose in the longest length that your shower space needs so that the spray reaches the farthest corners. The extra money spent will pay for itself the first time you go to clean the shower walls.

Both sprayers can operate from the same one water source, but it is important to have them mounted separately on the wall. This will eliminate the frequent incidence of pushing down on the connections, causing the mounts to come loose, leak, and break. Having a separate hand-held wand is also safer and more convenient for persons to use while seated in the shower stall.
