Sheets. Twin for smaller windows, Full, Queen or king for larger. You just need to sew a pocket in the top and use a pole of some sort. It can be metal, wood, pvc pipe. Use your imagination. You may need to hem but that is easy. They can be tied back with rope, ribbon, belts, scarves. And you can find sheets at Goodwill and other thrift stores. I’ve used sheets for so many different uses. Good luck!

ive seen some great curtains using painters drop cloths! So affordable. Just hand them from a rod with clips on rings. :)

I made several pair of curtains out of flat bed sheets. I found several sheets in patterns that I liked at a discount outlet for Danriver and bought enough of them to do 11 windows for 7 rooms and it only cost me about $50.00 for all of them. I bought queen size sheets, cut them and cut them in half length ways. I sewed the cut edges so they wouldn't ravel and made sure I left the top finished part of the sheet open to use on the curtain rods. Didn't have to sew the finished sides of the sheets nor the bottoms. I bought matching colored ribbon to use as tie backs and they looked great to me. They weren't heavy but that was all right as the windows had blinds on them and there were trees around the house so I didn't have to worry about blocking out the sun. What I liked really well besides them being easy to make was that I was able to find patterned material that I liked the right size for all of those windows :)
