Barbara, to avoid never-ending upkeep, I recommend using masonry stain instead of paint. Paint will peel and require annual repainting

Paint won't hold up to daily use, traffic, and weather. Laura has the best suggestion. A lot of prep involved in staining concrete.

There are many acid stains on the market that require very little prep and are actually very do it yourself friendly. Lowes, Menards, and Home Depot have stains in stock and can offer suggestions on color. Acid stains, once sealed, offer very long term solutions to plain old concrete. what's nice is that every project will look unique and give your sidewalk, driveway, garage floor, or concrete porch it's own personality.

Once sealed properly, the oil will not be absorbed into the concrete and will be easily wiped up and cleaned with non abrasive soap and water.
