How to deal with birds destroying our bay window?

For the last ten days or so, a couple of robins have been furiously pecking at our bay window and defecating on the sill. We have tried hanging stuffed toys and CDs on the inside with the view of shooing them away, but to no avail. The bay window has been there for over 20 years, but this is the first time we have had this trouble. Our yard is full of trees, bushes and other green spaces but the couple seems to love the bay window. Please advise.
