How do you make rubberized plastic not sticky?

I have a radio, a pair of sunglasses and heels on favorite pair of sandals all made of a certain type of rubberized plastic that has gotten sticky over the years. I've tried cleaning them with Dawn detergent then Windex then alcohol, all to no avail. I'm stumped.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Benesse, I think you are on the right track by using alcohol. Here's a link to a youtube.com video showing a fellow removing the sticky residue. Hope it helps you, too.

  Thanks, I'll try again but with microfiber cloth. Some areas will be hard to do especially on the narrow grooves in the radio. The video reminded me that I also tried GooGone and that didn't work for me either.

Did you accidentally spray them with insect repellent

  Definitely not. At first I thought heat/hot weather but that's not it either. No rhyme or reason how it happened but it was on several totally different items and all they had in common was parts made of this rubberized plastic.
