    Hello Jenks,

Your dryer must have been manufactured quite a few years ago, as Kelli said, they are mostly stainless these days. Give the manufacturer a call and talk to them on their support line, have your make and model numbers ready.

I would call the manufacturer to ask about the situation first. Also inquire about a recall.

You can certainly DIY a fix for this! Here are the instructions:

Sand the peeling spots then paint with a porcelain paint. You can buy small bottles of it at places like Home Depot.

There are a few steps you can take to prevent the inside of your dryer from peeling:

    1. Make sure to clean the lint filter before each use. A clogged lint filter can cause excess heat to build up inside the dryer, which can cause the paint or coating on the inside of the dryer to peel.
    2. Avoid overloading the dryer. When the dryer is overloaded, it can cause excess heat to build up, which can also lead to peeling.
    3. Avoid drying items that have been treated with harsh chemicals, such as bleach or fabric softeners. These chemicals can cause the paint or coating on the inside of the dryer to peel.
    4. Avoid drying items that are very wet or dripping with water. Excess moisture can cause the inside of the dryer to rust or peel.
    5. If you notice any peeling or damage to the inside of the dryer, have it repaired as soon as possible. A damaged dryer can be a fire hazard and should not be used until it has been repaired.

By following these steps, you can help to prevent the inside of your dryer from peeling and ensure that it stays in good working condition.

Sand the peeling spots then paint with a porcelain paint. Stores like Lowes and Home Depot have this on hand.

Just be careful when sanding to protect the drum from any sanding residue.
