Looking to hang a mantel yourself? There are a few different ways to hang a floating mantel or shelf, but here’s how we do it. Easy and solid!!

We were going into concrete so we used concrete screws with anchors. We marked three spots at center of the beams thickness. Just make sure you are drilling in nice and straight😂 That will make the rest of the process much smoother.

Once we have them in, we cut the heads off with a grinder or jigsaw with a metal blade. We marked the headless screws with black permanent marker so that could put a template on the back of our beam.

Set the mantel up against these screws with a level on it and push in to leave a mark. Then pre-drill your holes in the back of the mantel.

We added fast setting epoxy on the screws after we did a little test fit to make sure we were level and the screws lined up with the holes🙌🏼

That’s it!! Solid and easy. I hope this tutorial is helpful for you!

Great idea! A railroad tie came to mind but I'm wondering that would be too heavy for the wall? I guess it all depends on how well the bolts have been set in?
