We had some in our attic. We put mothballs in old socks to chase them out and then sealed every opening we could find with metal mesh. Keep track of the mothballs or your attic will reek (learned this the hard way). Keeping a light on is also supposed to help. But, it was the mothballs that chased them out.

Live traps is the only way to get rid of them once they've chewed holes. Seal up and repair all entry points after you've gotten them out.
To deter, pour apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle and spray anywhere they may be hanging out.
I used moth ballx to keep squirrels out of my garden. Works great!
