What do I need to use to get weeds out of flower beds?
We use cardboard flat on the ground or many layers of paper (like open a newspaper and use it all for one spot) . Paper won't let anything grow. Place them around your plants. Then cover the paper/cardboard with mulch. We use cypress or cedar mulch so it won't attract termites. You may get an occasional weed come up close to the base of the planted flowers, but these are easily removed when they are so few.
Hello, weeds are an on going war even with measures such as fabric barrier, mulch and possibly preen. Hand pulling might be necessary.
I have found the Preen products are pretty helpful. Check out reviews and the Q&A here to see if it could be used for your gardens weed eradication needs. There are different formulations to include organic.
There are several here on HM:
I just soak the area and pull the next day...I need the exercise! LOL
This is not an exact science – approximate measures are totally fine 1 gallon white vinegar and cup Epsom salts and ¼ cup liquid dish soap Combine ingredients in spray bottle and treat weeds at the hottest time of day for best results.
