Have several bins marked not needed any longer and another marked keep. If you are not using it get rid of it. It will feel great to declutter everything. Do it in stages, so its not overwhelming.
Unless is it a special occasion outfit, if you haven't worn it in a year or it no longer fits, donate it. Take out things you are hanging up, like jeans, tank tops, etc. that don't wrinkle and either put it in a drawer or an underbed box, that will open up some room. Get the metal hangers that hold multiple shirts, skirts or pants. I tend to organize my shirts by color and as the season changes I take out the clothes I won't be wearing until that season comes around and put them in underbed boxes. I put shoes in the clear plastic shoe boxes and stack on the floor under the hanging clothes. Seasonal clothes can be kept in the bags you vacuum down and stored under your bed, or on an upper shelf in the closet. If you have the extra height in your closet, add a few shelves and store not often used shoes, handbags, etc. on them. I hope this helps you get started on organizing and decluttering your closet, Hatti!
Hello.
Doing a purge can be helpful.
Some suggest switching your hangers hooking in the opposite direction when you wear something .....and then after a period of time observe the things youβre not wearing and get rid of them.
Lastly, if youβre going to purchase a new article of clothing consider removing one or two pieces of clothing from your closet βas you bring that new item in. Letting you reflect if you need that new item of clothing or shoes if youre ready to let one or two go to the donation pile.
I think using crates as storage for shoes and folded clothes is a great idea! Here is one I found https://www.pinterest.com/pin/AUnvxAiflatZLh6pOtqi0_fhPiQvK6962X8k2TlGOCfXJ-IDURQqUkA/
