Does anyone have simple steps to replace a storm screen door. The old one has been removed. Old strips of wood had been added around the frame.

When purchasing your new door be sure to make sure there is a frame as well in order to make your installation easier.

Take the door opening down to the 2X4 or 2X6 studs on the sides of the old door. Measure carefully permitting at least one inch for insulation after you install the new door jambs. You will need wood shims to make the door straight and level on top and sides. You may have to double up on the shims to get the correct thickness you require to make the door tight. Nail the jams through the shims and into the side wall studs with the correct finishing nails. It is a good idea to add shims right behind the door jamb where the latch is going to be to give it added strength and so the latch area does not move out causing the door to not latch properly.
