Do you have any ideas on how to make lamps from old guitar/mandolins?

Mayhaps, if you stood them up & opened the neck to run pipe and wires through the neck & out the back.?? Lamp fixture kits can be bought at home improvement stores or online. A Trumpet could be set bell-end down OR a orchestral Bass would make an astounding floor lamp with the lampshade made from music stands & sheet music!!!!

A pic of one of my favorite conversions. When I read your question I got an immediate vision of a violin and now made into a table lamp followed by a vision of a cello made into a floor lamp.

Start by exploring the lighting dept at your favorite hardware or home improvement dept. The are many versions of conversion kits available. Also the wood trim department or craft store for materials to create a base. The primary concern is mechanics to support and display the instrument. Also determine to what extent you are willing to damage the instrument. You may want to drill holes to run mechanics through the instrument or you may prefer an easel type display that passes the mechanics behind the instrument.
