Plant glass if that is what you are looking for. Alternative you can down weedkiller and mat and lay stones for a low mantenance garden.
If you live in an area where you pay for water used, or if your area has seasonal water restrictions, I would not recommend planting lawn. To keep grass looking green and attractive is very high maintenance, and time consuming.
