Sorry to say this, but I use a new version of round up. I cut the tops off of the poison ivy and hand paint on the stems, the herbicide.

The important thing to remember about poison ivy, is that the juice of the plant, on your cutting shears, your gloves and even shovels from the roots, must be wiped off cleaned off with soapy cleanser.

That juice, will still be active, as poison ivy causing, a year later.

  • My girlfriend and I just did this. We do it the old fashioned way, but it works! We suit up go out and dig it all out. Mark the bags for the refuse service so they don't get a rash. Then drown the area in agricultural strength vinegar. Then immediately get out of our clothes, take a shower and wash our work clothes.

    3 cups white vinegar

    1/2 cup table salt

1 tablespoon liquid detergent or soap (I use Dawn) for stick-to-itiveness.

    Directions

    1. Mix vinegar and salt until the salt is completely dissolved. Stir in liquid dish soap, and pour into a spray bottle.
    2. Spray onto the green growing leaves of the plants.
    3. Wait a week, then repeat on any survivors. Best time to apply: during a dry spell.

    Repeat as necessary.
