Can I paint chalk paint over Fusion mineral paint sealer?

Just painted my dining room chairs with Fusion mineral paint and sealed with the fusion sealer. I don't like the color as well as I thought I would. Can I paint over the sealer and paint with Rustoleum chalk paint without having to sand everything down again?

Hi. You can use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint over top of the Fusion sealer but I am not sure about the Rustoleum. It is a latex based paint so you will probably need to either sand the chairs down a bit to give them a little grit or put a primer on before the Rustoleum. I have used all of those paints but not in a combination of a latex over the Fusion sealer. You could try painting just a small area under the seat or on a leg to see how it holds up. It may hold up initially but with something like a chair that gets a lot of wear and tear may start to peel off. Good luck!

Hi there, I had to do a little research on the type of paint that you used. On their website Fusion Mineral says that their products take at least 20 days to fully cure. As far as I can tell after that though you can paint whatever you want over it! But I would wait until its cured or the rustoleum might react really weirdly with it.

I would wait for the fusion paint sealer to cure, and then I would lightly scuff sand everything with 220 grit sandpaper before painting the rustoleum paint.
