How to repurpose a student desk?

I have an old metal studen desk. The kind with the arm that forms the desk top. I would like to repurpose it. Thoughts?

I have an antique wood student desk that my dad refinished and gave to me for my kids. It sits in my backroom library. Over the cold months when I bring in my tropicals, I put one pot on the seat and one on the desktop arm, it sits by my south windows so they get the sun they need. I don't put anything too heavy on the desk top since there isn't very much support for it. When my dad refinished it he put numerous coats of poly on it so it is safe in case water gets dribbled on it. That is what I use my desk for, other than grandkids using it to read or do homework, draw, etc.

I left the seat as is, that way when there isn't a pot on it after it is taken back outside so that it can be used as a desk by the grandkids when they are here. I just put the clear plastic put dishes under them in case of overwatering.

  • Hi Sharon - I transformed this old vintage school desk. It may not be exactly what you are looking for, but may help with some inspiration. Hugs, Holly
