How do I brighten dull kitchen cabinets?

We are moving into a new house in a few weeks. The cabinets are plentiful and sturdy, but dull and boring. I thought about glazing them but have never tried this technique before. I also thought about adding handles but not sure what to do.

Next time you visit the house can you get a few photos? What type of finish is on them now? Are they light? Dark? Painted?

  I was able to get pic from listing photo. Dull and boring . They do not look like they’ve ever painted.
