Fill the tub with very hot water, just enough to coverthe oven racks. Add up to 1/2 cup of dishwashing soap (or up to 3/4 cup laundry detergent). Let sit overnight. Alternatively: sprinkle baking soda over the oven racks, then douse them with vinegar.

For standard cleaning, use a soapy sponge and hot water to wipe the racks. For stubborn messes, soak oven racks in hot water, dish soap, and a couple scoops of baking soda. Let the racks soak in this mixture for 15 to 30 minutes before scrubbing clean with a soft sponge.

  • I've used a plastic garbage bag, placed the racks in them, poured in a bit of ammonia and let them sit over night. Cleaned them right up with minimal effort.

  • To clean the racks, simply wipe them off with hot water and a soapy sponge. Oven racks can be treated with dish soap, hot water, and a few scoops of baking soda to get rid of tough messes. After letting the racks soak in this mixture for fifteen to thirty minutes, use a soft sponge to scrub them clean.
