How do I get rid of birds in my attic?

I don't know if they are in my attic proper, but from the outside you can see them fly in through the vent panels (or whatever they call them). From time to time, I may find an egg that has fallen or been dropped, but the main problem is the bird droppings and remains that are so noticeable from the front of the house. It is visible when looking towards the front door. This is so unsightly! I am open to suggestions.

  • Can you go up in the attic space and find out for sure? That's where I would start.

    Hi Neecee,

Looks like you will have to make it hard for them to land there, block off the upper area with something that will prevent the birds from landing and nesting up there. I have seen pointy things that you attach to the existing structure to prevent them from perching there to begin with. Go to Home Depot or Lowes to find thisproduct, they will know what you are talking about.

Bottom line is you'll have to get someone to go there and do the work.

    Best to you.

If you find no birds, perhaps put some chicken wire on the inside of the vent so that they can't get through the vent slats.

There is some there already, but I might need to refresh it and add the other suggestion to put something up there to make it feel uncomfortable for the birds.
